About Me

I have been in practice since 2003, having graduated from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology in Bloomington, Minnesota with my doctorate of psychology.  I also obtained my master's degree while in graduate school.  I earned my bachelors of science degree from The Ohio State University before pursuing graduate work.  I relocated to eastern Iowa in 2006 and have made it my home, with my husband and children living approximately 20 minutes west of Maquoketa.

When I am not in the office, I am active in my children's schooling, as we transitioned to homeschooling in 2020.  Living in a smaller, rural community increases the likelihood that I may cross paths with a client.  I want to reassure prospective clients that I keep all of our interactions and the nature of our relationship confidential.  I typically will not greet a client outside of the therapy office, unless the client initiates the greeting, as I do not want others to inquire as to how we might know one another.  Please know that when I do see clients in the community, it is with joy that I see them going about their daily routines and I am not "analyzing" them and their interactions.  (This is a common concern for folks who enter into therapy, so let's just put it out there from the start.  The truth is, I'm usually distracted with my own tasks when I'm moving about in the community and not as tuned in to others as when I am in the office.)

Issues that I have experience and competence helping therapy clients with include:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety and Phobias

  • Relationship Difficulties

  • Life Transitions

  • Difficulties with Self-Esteem

  • Professional / Career Issues

  • College / High School Issues

  • Medical and Health Concerns

  • Pain Management

  • Stress Management

  • Spirituality Conflicts

  • Grief, Loss, or Bereavement

I am no longer conducting psychological evaluations, including those required for the Intellectual Disability Waiver Program.  I encourage you to contact your insurance company or case management lead if you are in need of such psychological assessments to seek other referral options.
